Come on out
Designed around its owners’ love of the great outdoors, this rambling Rolleston residence provides plenty of alfresco living options. The internal courtyard with spa pool is sheltered from prevailing easterlies and is a much-loved area.

Generous soffits and louvered gables provide good sun protection. Feature lighting enhances the outdoor spaces at dusk. Stone features and timber details add rustic charm, linking the home to its environment. External stonewalls deflect wind so the residents can entertain guests in the dining space with the bi-fold doors open. The interior is light and open. A passive HRV system and ducted heatpump allow for good airflow throughout. Thanks to the high level of insulation, the three-bedroom house needs very little heating. Extra warmth is delivered to the rear lounge at sunset.

A well-placed skylight above the bathtub offers natural illumination during the day, reducing the need for electric lighting. Nightime brings a chance to peer up at the stars while you soak. Waking in the master bedroom offers a direct view of the Port Hills.
